Introduction:
The library of Atlantic School of Theology seeks an enthusiastic, multi-talented, entry-level Instruction and Outreach Librarian to fill a permanent, full-time position.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Library Director, and working collaboratively with other librarians, library staff and faculty, this librarian position is responsible to plan, develop, deliver and assess the instructional services program of the AST Library, relevant to the academic curriculum and mission of Atlantic School of Theology.
The Instruction and Outreach Librarian also provides reference and circulation services (evening and weekend shifts possible); supports other library staff to develop information resource competencies; Participates in collection development, outreach, campus committees and library consortium-related activities;
Qualifications:
- An ALA-accredited Master's degree or equivalent;
- Demonstrated teaching skills and aptitude for library public services;
- Familiarity with best practices in information literacy, and reference services;
- Working knowledge of relevant computer and Web-based applications;
- Ability to multi-task successfully in a service-oriented environment;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Friendly demeanor, curiosity and a positive approach to problem-solving.
Highly Desirable Assets:
- Post-secondary education in Theology, Religious Studies, or other relevant academic discipline(s);
- Previous library work experience.
